Last week was an exciting one for students at Howard-Winneshiek Middle School. While the first week of school might be dreaded by some, the anxiety was counteracted by the presentation of iPads to the students. Grades 6th-8th were presented with their iPads on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. To help assist with handing out the iPads we reached out to our local businesses within the community. So a big "THANK YOU" goes out to them because without their support the process wouldn't have moved as smooth as it did. Now comes the implementation phase and most classrooms have started using them on a regular basis. Many classes will be using the new technology for research on the internet. The uses in the classroom will be ever evolving through school year which has the staff just as excited as the students about the addition of iPads to the middle school. In launch of our iPads we have also added a new tab to our District Technology page check out: 1 to 1 Learning.
Educating young minds was something that came naturally to me. Every moment in our lives has been a teachable moment and every story read a springboard to new height. I had to become a teacher! This has lead into the passion for educating staff and students in technology.
